Who writes the guide
About the Curb-to-Door Desk
Step-Free is written and signed under the Curb-to-Door Desk, a collective name, not a person, with no personal byline on the site. The guide reports what the casinos of Toronto and the GTA publish about access, in plain words.
What the desk does
The Curb-to-Door Desk reads what the venues, their hotels, the operator and the transit agencies publish about access. Its sources are the venues' and hotels' own pages, the operator's accessibility policy and update page, and transit agency pages. October 7 and 8, 2026 are the dates when the site's facts were checked.
When a venue has not published something, the guide says so in those words and gives the venue's phone number. Counts of published items are counts, not scores, and the guide does not rate venues. Nor does it visit them on readers' behalf.
The ramp, bed, shower, bus, paw and seat icons are software renders that stand for a need, not a place. Three casino pictures, of entrances at Elements Casino Mohawk, Great Blue Heron and Pickering Casino Resort, are generated from real photographs. Viewpoint and light were shifted slightly from each photograph; none is itself a photograph, has a caption or marks a ramp. Three others are Alan Spencer photographs under the CC BY 2.0 licence, credited underneath, two of them edited to remove people, a truck and a poster. Image sources, below, lists them with links and changes; no picture shows casino staff or guests, and the desk took no picture at any casino.

How the site stays independent
Step-Free does not run a casino, take bets or hold accounts; it is an independent guide. The home page alone has paid links: three, each marked Ad, all for one online casino partner that can change. A commission comes to the site through those links, which serve Ontario only, for players physically located within Ontario. Casinos, OLG, the province, transit agencies and help services never send this site any payment. Inner pages, including this one, carry no paid links.
